I was only able to get it to work with the DRM free exe included. I just bought it today on Steam since it's on a deep discount. I WAS able to get it running with Origin and Heroic Launcher, but performance was really sluggish. No I bought it through steam, and that works.
if your running the old version of steam(old UI) it wont work you need the "new library" to even launch the game in steam i had that issue when i first brought the game, and only by updating to the "new library' was i able to launch the game
Also want to thank you, this combined with the above guide allowed me to successfully install origin games on my steam deck, playing from my SD card. I was specifically was having issues with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. In Lutris I was able to get some games to install and run correctly (from an SD, too), but others would not cooperate.
I got the file which is named “starwarsjedifallenorder.exe” and I did all the adding to Steam, set the Launch Option, and then set the Compatibility to “Proton Experimental”.
For some reason when I use the steam deck to login to origin it forces 2FA (code) and I can't login. So I called support to verify my identity (successfully). But for a secret reason they say they can't update my email. Origin allows me to buy and link games but I am locked out of receiving emails.
Need to start over as no cloud for steam and,,, well,,, origin cloud needed to be enabled in game properties: ( oh well, was still near the start so will relplay. Changing this setting to be higher (tested for both 120 and 144 fps) and the game now runs at a buttery smooth 60fps (vsync enabled), at epic quality. If I turn vsync off, I get 60-80fps (but I personally prefer vsync on), at epic quality. I suspect there is a bug in the game, so hopefully this will help you if you're experiencing similar
